11 DIE GUSSEISERNEN PART III

The Castirons. The unique German insider term „Der Gusseiserne“ gave The Castiron his name. Who or what are „Die Gusseisernen“?

You remember: Walter Röhrl. One of the very big names also on the Nordschleife. Different cars, different wheather conditions: he mastered all the challenges he was confronted with, sometimes with tremendous differences between him and most of the other drivers (for example: the 24 Hours Nürburgring 1992, which saw fog and heavy rain in the night). Niki Lauda called him „Genius on Wheels“.

It is quite difficult to describe it in words. Just have a look to the movie.

Next week: Niki Lauda 1976 Nordschleife.

See you next Friday.

God bless you, all the best!

10 DIE GUSSEISERNEN PART II

The Castirons. The unique German insider term „Der Gusseiserne“ gave The Castiron his name. Who or what are „Die Gusseisernen“?

One the greatest. Probably the classic example is Walter Röhrl, one of the heroes on the Nordschleife, Rallye World Champion, winner of the famous Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (Race To The Clouds), Rocky Mountains / Colorado in 1987, and so forth.

According to the German Wikipedia, Walter Röhrl is a real believer. Especially, but not only, before the starts he was praying, not for victory, but for protection instead.

This is another side of this „Gusseisernen“.

You will read more in Part III next week.

See you next Friday.

God bless you, all the best!

9 DIE GUSSEISERNEN PART I

The Castirons. The unique German insider term „Der Gusseiserne“ gave The Castiron his name. Who or what are „Die Gusseisernen“?

Basically the ones who know how to handle different cars in almost every situation; not modern cars, no. Mainly cars of the sixties and early seventies, such as Porsches or US cars with V8 (if possible with a cast-iron big block engine) and preferably manual gear-boxes. In one word: beasts.

Men who have a close relationship to that kind of cars. Men who are more tamers than drivers, if necessary.

In Part II you will meet one of those great drivers from this species and generation. I am sure, you know him.

See you next Friday.

God bless you, all the best!

8 THE STORY OF THE CASTIRON AND ELEANOR V PART II

December 2010, a few days before Christmas: winter in Switzerland, snow? The Ford Mustang’s owner and The Castiron meet. What a beautiful car, what an impressive sound! After a ride the purchase negotiation follows. The heart says „yes“; on the other side „sleep it over, before you decide“. The Castiron and the owner agree, that the decision will be made within the next 24 hours. When they leave, snow begins to fall; the ride was really at the right time.

One day later: The Castiron confirms to the owner that he will buy the car.

January 14th, 2011: The Castiron gets the car. Unique with the cross at the back and her Eleanor Bodykit. Fifth Generation. Eleanor V.

Spring 2011: soon after January, The Castiron and Eleanor V have a lot of fun together, as the picture shows you.

Next week The Castiron (German: „Der Gusseiserne") will bring you closer to his name.

See you next Friday.

God bless you, all the best!
